On Wednesday 24 March the UK Chancellor Alistair Darling delivered his final Budget before the General Election, which is expected to take place in May 2010.
In his Budget Mr Darling made the following statements regarding the UK gambling industry:

1. Duty on Bingo will reduce to 20% (from 22%) for accounting periods starting on or after 29 March 2010.

2. All rates of amusement machine licence duty (AMLD) will increase in line with inflation from Friday 26 March 2010.

3. Gaming duty bands will increase in line with inflation for accounting periods starting on or after 1 April 2010.
