Baccarat only game in town for Macau
As has been widely reported, Macau enjoyed a record year in 2010 with casino gaming revenues increasing by 58% compared to 2009.
Fourth quarter gaming revenues smashed through the MOP 50,000m mark, reaching a record of MOP 55,106m. This performance helped the annual figure reach MOP 188,343 million (2009: MOP 119,369 million)
The revenues were largely driven by strong increases in Baccarat revenues, and more particularly VIP Baccarat.
In 2010 Baccarat accounted for 90.6% of gaming revenues in Macau, up from 88.2% in 2009.
VIP Baccarat on its own contributed 72.0% of total gaming revenues, rising back above 70% for the first time since 2004.
At the end of 2010 there were 33 casinos operating in Macau, 20 of which were run by SJM Holdings.
