Cheltenham: Bookies bounce back on Ladies DayÔªø
The defeat of Time For Rupert (7/4) in the RSA Chase, Master Minded (2/1) in the Queen Mother Champion Chase, and So Young (2/1) in Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle saw bookmakers bounce back on the second day of the centenary Cheltenham Festival.
It was also an excellent day for Irish-trained horses as they won six of the seven races on the card. Only Philip Hobbs’ Cheltenian (14/1) in the Weatherbys Champion Bumper, the final race on the card, managed to prevent a clean sweep of seven victories for the Irish.
GBGC’s Head of Research Lorien Pilling commented, “The bookmakers will be hoping that the last two days of the meeting bring more of the same. Wednesday saw a number of strongly fancied horses beaten and the bookmakers are certainly on top”.
