Success for Japan in Dubai World Cup
Victoire Pisa (12/1) and Transcend (40/1) made it a Japanese 1-2 in the US$ 10 million Dubai World Cup at the magnificent Meydan Racecourse on Saturday evening.

The two horses were at the head of the field as they swung off the final bend and were not passed by their rivals in the home straight.

Henry Cecil’ Twice Over went off the 2/1 favourite but was never in contention at any stage of the race and finished in ninth.

Manami Ichikawa, daughter of winning owner Yoshimi Ishikawa, dedicated the victory to Japan following the devastation in the country caused by the recent tsunami.

Winning trainer Katsuhiko Sumii said he felt the whole country was supporting him.
