With a guaranteed GB£ 500,000 prize pool and an array of side events and parties, the Isle of Man is back at high-rollers’ table when the Pokerstars UK & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) rolls into town this week (31 October – 4 November).

It will actually be the first time that Pokerstars, which has its headquarters in the island, will be hosting a premier poker tournament in the Isle of Man. The event has largely been made possible by changes to the island’s gambling regulation which now allows the island’s only casino – the Palace Casino – to take a temporary premises certificate. As such, the UKIPT event is being held in the Villa Marina on the seafront in Douglas.

Global Betting and Gaming Consultants’ Director Lorien Pilling commented, “It is very exciting to have such a high profile and valuable poker event take place here in the Isle of Man. The island was at the forefront of big live poker tournaments when it hosted the first Poker Million back in 2000 but it is good to have a leg of the Pokerstars UKIPT taking place in Douglas. I will be looking forward to watching some of the Team Pokerstars professionals at the tables.”
As well as the poker games, Pokerstars will be offering guided tours of its offices and hosting a party at Tahiko nightclub on Friday 1 November.
