EPL crowds bring no home advantage

Crowds have returned to EPL stadia for the 2021/22 season, following a year of empty seats. But having supporters to cheer them on does not seem to have given home sides an obvious advantage.

With 110 matches played in the current season, 36% have resulted in a home win. This percentage is lower than the 38% recorded across the full 2020/21 season, when there were no fans in the stadia.

Drawn matches are currently above the recent average at 27%, which is usually good for the bookmakers’ margins.
